Supervision is available for candidates who wish to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA). Candidates must have already begun the approved university coursework required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) before beginning supervised experience. In person supervision is available in the San Francisco Bay Area, and long-distance supervision is available via email, phone, and web conference.
Candidates intending to become BCBAs must complete 1500 hours of supervised behavior analytic work. Those seeking a BCaBA (Bachelor's level) must complete 1000 hours of supervised work in behavior analysis. According to the BACB, "The distribution of Supervised Independent Fieldwork hours must be at least 10 hours per week, but not more than 30 hours per week, for a minimum of 3 weeks per month." Additionally, the BACB requires that 5% (a total of 75 hours for BCBA and 50 hours for BCaBA) of the supervised independent fieldwork to be direct supervision hours with a BCBA once every two weeks.
Candidates should review the BACB's eligibility requirements prior to contacting IBC.
